Mavenspire Senior Associate, Jessica Tanenhaus, spoke on Monday, March 1st, to the Annapolis Linux Users Group about the benefits of Inkscape. Inkscape is an open source program designed to create scalable vector-based graphics. It is comparable to programs like Illustrator and CorelDraw. However, being an open source program it doesn't cost anything to the user. You can simply go to http://www.inkscape.org/ and download the program.

Ms. Tanenhaus gave a brief demonstration of the program and highlighted the tools which make Inkscape highly effective. This demonstration was requested after Jessica gave a brief demonstration of Lyx, a Latex editor with a gui, at the previous month's meeting.

About the Annapolis Linux Users Group:

The Annapolis Linux Users Group is an open organization which meets the first Monday of each month at 53 Old Solomons Island Rd. - Suite H in Annapolis from 7-9pm.  The group gets together to discuss programs for Linux, help each other with programming and other issues as well as to help shepherd folks who are new to the Linux operating system. With it's current rate of growth, Mavenspire has recently hired two new account managers.

Dee Baris is Business Development Manager with over 10 years of IT technology services experience.  Dee is a dynamic, results-driven, strategic account manager who is tenacious in building new business, identifying customer business needs, securing customer loyalty, and experienced in transforming vendor/customer relations to that of valued business partners.    Prior to joining Mavenspire, Dee has been enterprise services manager for Oracle and Novell, where she managed key enterprise accounts in various verticals and industries.  Significant professional accomplishments include being the recipient of Novell’s President Club in 2007; Service Account Manager of the Year 2007; President’s Award  - Account Team 2006 and recognition for the development/adoption of new customer programs.

We are also pleased to announce the addition of Christopher Isham as Practice Manager for Citrix and Compellent Storage systems. Christopher has nearly 20 years of business experience, starting as an Account Executive for Polo Ralph Lauren and most recently as part of the founding group at MainBrain, a Maryland-based managed network services provider. Christopher played a key role in the phenomenal growth achieved by MainBrain during its first two years. As Practice Manager for Citrix and Compellent, Christopher will be responsible for helping companies find the best solutions for desktop/server virtualization and solving their data storage problems.

We are very happy to have these two individuals on board, and are looking forward to further increases in the near future.
